Remote Sensing of Forests – A New E-Learning Resource from the EarthBridge Project
As part of the EarthBridge project (Horizon Europe, Grant Agreement 101079310), an open e-learning course on advanced methods for analysing forest ecosystems using remote sensing has been developed. The course builds directly on the EarthBridge Summer School 2025 and brings together the expertise of lecturers from CZU Prague, TU Dresden, Czech Globe, and TU Munich.
The materials are designed for students, early-career researchers, and professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of environmental Earth Observation and biodiversity monitoring.
The course is organised into thematic chapters covering key domains of forest remote sensing: hyperspectral remote sensing, radiative transfer modelling, radar remote sensing, SAR tomography, and ALS processing. Each chapter combines a theoretical introduction, recorded lectures, hands-on tutorials using real data, and links to presentations, datasets, and video recordings.
All materials are freely accessible via GitHub Pages, with presentations and datasets hosted on the EarthBridge cloud storage and lecture recordings available on the EarthBridge YouTube channel.
The course is designed as a living resource that will continue to grow and evolve based on new contributions and user feedback.
