From September 15–19, 2025, a team from the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) – Dominika Prajzlerová, Vojtěch Barták, and Vítězslav Moudrý – participated in the 54th Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (GfÖ), held in Würzburg, Germany.
The GfÖ is one of the largest ecological societies in Europe, and its annual meeting is a vibrant interdisciplinary platform where scientists, practitioners, and students exchange ideas on pressing ecological challenges. This year’s theme, “Ecological Systems Under Pressure: Challenges and Solutions,” encouraged dialogue on how to address today’s environmental issues.
The CZU team contributed with three distinct research outputs:
Dominika Prajzlerová presented “The Time of Acquisition of Multispectral Predictors Matters: The Role of Seasonality in Bird Species Distribution Models,” highlighting how seasonal variability in vegetation influences species distribution models and predictor selectionand practice in the field of environmental protection.
Vítězslav Moudrý delivered the talk “How Do Errors in Environmental and Species Occurrence Data Cumulate in Modeling Species–Environment Relationships?” He showed that the interaction of positional errors in occurrence data and inaccuracies in environmental predictors can significantly affect species–environment models. His lecture attracted exceptionally high attendance, as confirmed by the conference app, underscoring the relevance of his findings for the ecological modeling community
Vojtěch Barták presented a poster titled “Towards an Accurate High-Resolution Global Canopy Height Model,” introducing new methods for canopy height modeling based on GEDI and Sentinel data
