Between May 8–29, 2025, PhD candidate Dominika Prajzlerová participated in a research exchange at the renowned University of Bologna as part of the Horizon Europe project Building Bridges between Earth Observation and Environmental Sciences (EarthBridge).
The purpose of the stay was to launch a new study exploring how drone imagery can help explain bird abundance and species richness in the Třeboňsko region. Dominika collaborated closely with Professor Duccio Rocchini, an expert in spectral variability, to refine the project’s methodology and direction.
During her stay:
- She had two productive meetings with Prof. Rocchini,
- Completed her current data analysis and made strong progress on her PhD thesis,
- Delivered a presentation remotely at the Bonn Earth Bridge meeting.
The exchange offered not only research benefits but also valuable personal and academic growth – providing focused time for writing and the opportunity to interact with an inspiring research group.
Dominika’s next steps include preparing a publication manuscript and continuing her dissertation, while staying in touch with the Bologna team for ongoing collaboration.
“The stay was incredibly helpful — both scientifically and personally. It allowed me to concentrate fully, improve my methodology, and gain new inspiration.” — Dominika Prajzlerová
