Building Bridges between Earth Observation and Environmental Sciences

EarthBridge Conference: 25-26 September 2025, Castle in Kostelec nad Černými Lesy, Czechia

We warmly invite you to the EarthBridge conference, which we’re hosting as the Department of Spatial Sciences at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. The event will take place on 25–26 September 2025 in the Knights’ Hall of the Castle in Kostelec nad Černými Lesy (40 km from Prague, Czechia). Participation is free, but please make sure to register by 5 September 2025.

EarthBridge is our long-term initiative (including the Horizon Twinning project of the same name), seeking common ground between Earth observation specialists and environmental research and practice. We are therefore delighted to welcome the participation of all scientists, students and practitioners, both those with a long-standing interest in Earth observation and those who are specialists in ecology and the environment and want to learn more about the benefits of Earth observation for their work.

What to look forward to

We’re pleased that several outstanding experts have already accepted our invitation to open the conference with perspectives ranging from forestry and ecology to landscape conservation, geospatial technologies, and spatial data science. Among them are Mathias Forkel (TU Dresden), Duccio Rocchini (University of Bologna), Filip Hájek (Forest Management Institute), Dušan Romportl (Research Institute for Landscape), and Petr Dušánek (Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre). Their talks will set the tone – and we warmly invite you to add your voice. Share your work and become part of a vibrant and thought-provoking forum.

The scientific programme will bring together an inspiring mix of senior and early-career researchers and practitioners, offering space for dialogue, inspiration, and exchange. To make the experience even more memorable, you can also enjoy an evening tour of the castle, including parts normally closed to the public, and a relaxed evening reception, with refreshments sourced from the university’s own forests, fields, and vineyards.
